Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know
Who can volunteer?
You must be 18 years old and have no criminal record to work with youth. Full requirements are outlined in the volunteer application form below.
Do I need set hours?
No fixed schedule is required. We try to be as flexible as possible, though reliable availability helps with scheduling.
Can I volunteer with friends?
Yes! All volunteers must complete an application and criminal background check — this typically takes only 2–3 business days.
Can hours count for court or school?
Yes. Hasanaat is recognized by the Arizona Corporation Commission and Tucson City Court for court-ordered or school volunteer hours.
Can I volunteer virtually?
Yes. Many of our opportunities begin virtually, allowing volunteers to build relationships with students before transitioning to in-person support.
What does a typical volunteer session look like?
Sessions typically involve one-on-one or small group meetings with students — helping them navigate course selection, scholarship applications, college planning, or goal-setting. No two sessions are exactly the same, but all are meaningful.
How is my privacy protected?
We use Checkr for background checks — Hasanaat only receives "cleared" or "not cleared." We keep minimal information on file and protect your privacy at all times.
What roles are available?
We currently have Floater positions available — you'll help wherever most needed. Hours are as-needed and the role type varies based on current organizational needs.
