The full requirements for volunteering can be found in the first page of the volunteer application. Most notably, you must be 18 years old and have no criminal record to be able to work with youth.

No, volunteers are not required to work at a specific schedule. However, those who have stable volunteer availability help with our scheduling. We try to be flexibly as possible with volunteer schedules. We also want to ensure we have enough coverage to ensure we have proper support at all times.

Yes! We would be happy to have you bring additional volunteers to support Hasanaat’s cause. All volunteers are required to complete an application and criminal background check before they can start. This typically only takes 2 to 3 business days.

Yes. Hasanaat is a registered non-profit in the state of Arizona and is recognized as such in the Arizona Corporation Commission and the Tucson City Court. We are able to serve as a qualified organization to complete the hours needed for your traffic ticket or school requirement.

For roles of Tutoring or ESL - yes - online is an option to volunteer. Students could be at the Hasanaat center, using one of our laptops or at their home and you can virtually help them. Please know, some students may find online support challenging. It is only offered to students who we feel have the capacity to learn over Zoom/Google Meets.

Our background check company, Checkr, only conducts a criminal background and sex offender background check. This is an insurance requirement as we are working with teenagers under the age of 18. We do not receive any details about the outcome of the background check besides “cleared” or “not cleared”. A "not cleared" status could also be a result of incorrect personal information or address. Hasanaat doesn’t have access or store any personal information besides your name, background check clearance date, volunteered hours, and emergency contact information. Your privacy is important and we work hard to ensure it remains safe.
